I am Lucy Whittaker, The Threadanthropist.
I specialise in custom-made embroidered pieces, perfect for gifts, special occasions, or a treat or two for yourself (go on, you deserve it!). Dig in and have a browse through the collections in my gallery.
If you have an idea of your own, pop over to commissions, fill out the form and let’s chat about it!
I am a Cornwall-based embroidery artist with a love for creating personal, original and sustainable crafts.
At the age of 19 I moved to Falmouth to study fine art at Falmouth University. I then decided that I was never moving back to the Midlands.... I love the Cornish lifestyle and the creative hub that is Falmouth.
I enjoy taking the time to build connections with my pieces. Each one is lovingly handcrafted to create something truly unique and personal.
Like many people I am trying to keep my carbon footprint small and respect the beautiful home we have here. I do this by:
only using recyclable and compostable packaging
using sustainable materials
creating washable products so as to fight against single use culture.
I am working towards sourcing all of my materials from local independent businesses to support the local economy and reduce air miles. Becoming a sustainable business is a process and I still strive to work on this aspect of my work every day.
Each piece of embroidery is original. It takes time to make and has human artistry woven into it. In a world of mass production it’s important to create human connections. Art and embroidery are not just things we acquire, they are so much more than this and are to be cherished.
Thank you so much to everyone who has continuously supported me with my business! I hope you enjoy taking this journey with me!
